Sailability at Oxford Sail Training Trust offers a welcoming and fully supported environment for adults with disabilities to enjoy sailing. Whether you’re trying sailing for the first time or looking to build on existing skills, our Tuesday evening sessions provide flexible options tailored to individual needs and goals.

We offer two session types, both held at Farmoor Reservoir and supported by trained volunteers and instructors.

Sailability Casual Session

Sailability Casual Session

A relaxed, social evening on the water. No prior experience is needed. These sessions are ideal for building confidence and enjoying time afloat with support from our dedicated volunteers. Boats are adapted to suit a range of mobility and access needs.

Sailability RYA Training Session

Sailability RYA Training Session

For disabled sailors who want to work towards RYA qualifications. These sessions follow the RYA syllabus and provide one-to-one or small group instruction in a supportive environment.

FAQs for Adult Sailing Courses


You should bring a towel, swimwear, and old trainers or water shoes. We provide buoyancy aids, wetsuits, and all sailing equipment. You can find full details on our What to Bring page.

Yes. RYA Level 1 introduces basic skills. Level 2 builds on these and requires prior knowledge. However, you can book both together and receive a discount when booking via our Adult Sailing Courses page.

Absolutely. Our RYA Level 1 course is designed for people with no previous experience. It covers all the essentials in a relaxed, supportive environment.
